Suffolk Constabulary and Norfolk Constabulary have been collaborating since 2010 and this has yielded significant savings for both constabularies. An extensive programme of collaborative work is delivered across a number of joints units and departments in areas such as major investigations, protective services, custody, transport and IT.
The collaboration between Suffolk and Norfolk constabularies is one of the most successful in the country. In 2024/25 savings for Suffolk amounted to £24.7m. Local policing is not collaborated, so decisions made in Suffolk do not affect local policing in Norfolk.
The PCC meets with Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner and the chief constables of both forces to monitor the collaborated services. These meetings are held in public, with the venue alternating between Norfolk and Suffolk.
