Independent scrutiny of police powers

We believe in transparency and community involvement, that’s why the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner works with Suffolk Constabulary and Ipswich & Suffolk Council for Racial Equality (ISCRE) to make sure police powers are reviewed by the community.
This happens through the Suffolk Police Powers Public Scrutiny Group (SPPPSG), which is run by ISCRE. Meetings take place every two months, with two of the six meetings each year held in person.
The group looks at how police powers are used and shares its findings with the PCC’s Accountability and Performance Panel.
