Landmark House purchase approved

Suffolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner Tim Passmore has signed off a decision to purchase Suffolk County Council’s share of Landmark House in Ipswich.   The building is currently jointly owned by the PCC on behalf of Suffolk Constabulary, and Suffolk County Council.

The additional office space will provide the constabulary with the opportunity to relocate the public contact management functions, including the Contact and Control Room (CCR), to Landmark House.

The proposed relocation of the CCR will include significant investment in new technology and an improved working environment for this critical area of our service.

Tim Passmore said, “We have part-owned Landmark House with the county council for many years and when the council made the decision to sell it made sense to purchase their share.

“This additional space will help address concerns about the poor state of the CCR accommodation raised by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Service during their 2023 PEEL Inspection.

“We have made huge strides in the CCR to modernise the service and make it more responsive to the needs of the public, and in particular, to victims, witnesses and everyone who needs our support or help.   The purchase of Landmark House is an important next step in the multi-year investment in the CCR following investment through the policing precept, and my commitment to improve communication channels and make Suffolk Constabulary an employer of choice.”

Chief Constable Rachel Kearton said: “This development forms part of our ongoing journey of transformation of contact management with the public and I am grateful for their support as we continue to improve. It’s also important our communities recognise we will strive to do the best we can to continue to provide a police service they can be proud of.”
