The service is vital to our night time economy and ensure that those enjoying a night out in town are guaranteed a safe as well as enjoyable night out. “Ipswich Central works hard with local businesses to ensure that Ipswich is on the map when it comes to a great night out. We work in conjunction with Ipswich Borough Council and Suffolk Constabulary on the Best Bar None scheme to accredit local establishments that meet strict criteria on standards of care to customers. We are also proud to be names as a Purple Flag town which recognises Ipswich as a safe night out.” Tim Passmore, Suffolk’s Police Crime Commissioner said, “It is extremely important that Ipswich town centre continues to have a reputation as a safe and welcoming location where people can come to enjoy a drink, a meal or a trip to the cinema and theatre. “Making our town centres safe and prosperous encourages people to visit and spend time and money enjoying what Suffolk has to offer. “I was very specific in my Police and Crime Plan to highlight the need for investment in the local economy as a key driver for a safer county. A vibrant economy encourages growth and supports job security which in turn cuts crime.” says Tim. “I am happy to financially support this marshalling project. I can see tangible benefits for the Constabulary and for the people in Ipswich on weekend evenings. People will get home quicker and more safely and less people hanging around after the pubs and clubs close reduces potential disorder which in turn reduces the pressure on the Constabulary. Everyone wins.” Taxi marshals operate at the taxi rank at the Old Cattle Market opposite Vodka Revolution. They’re on hand to help from 11.30pm t0 4.30am on Friday and Saturday nights.
