11 August 2015 PCC supports Orwell Bridge speed limit exhibition An exhibition being staged by Highways England to show its proposals for the A14 is being welcomed by Tim Passmore, Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk. The exhibition will show the plans for a package of measures being proposed to improve safety on the A14 Orwell Bridge which include a 60mph speed limit. Tim Passmore is encouraging drivers, business owners and local residents to find out more about the plans, which are designed to improve safety for drivers at the Orwell Bridge, by attending the public information event on Wednesday 12 August. Tim Passmore said: “We know that any hold up on the A14 has a huge impact on Suffolk’s economy so I am really encouraged that the speed limit proposal is moving forward. “These things do take time but the important thing is that we know the process is in place to get the work done. “The lower speed limit should reduce the severity of any accidents that do occur and also reduce the numbers of accidents in the first place, which is very positive news.” The public information event, at which members of the public will be able to look at the plans and discuss them with representatives from Highways England, will take place at Tithe Barn in Sproughton on Wednesday 12 August from 10am to 2pm.
