PCC signed up to be Suffolk Business Ambassador

Tim Passmore, Suffolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner is now a Suffolk Business Ambassador, fully signed up to support the growth of business in the county.

Suffolk Chamber of Commerce invited the PCC to become an Inward Investment ambassador to help promote Suffolk as an attractive place to do business.

Tim Passmore said, “I am honoured to be invited to join the ‘Invest in Suffolk’ network as an ambassador. Supporting the local economy is key to my ambition to make Suffolk a safer place and it is a significant element of my Police and Crime Plan. I fully support the Chamber’s ambition to bring Ambassadors, from the private and public sector, together to support the economy as one entity. I call it Suffolk plc.

“It is well documented that if the economy suffers, you get more crime and where there is a problem with crime, it is more difficult to attract inward investment and new businesses; it’s a vicious circle and one that I certainly doesn’t want Suffolk to become a part of.

“As Police and Crime Commissioner, I work closely with the Constabulary to deliver policing that positively contributes to our local economy and regularly engage with Suffolk businesses to see what can be done to cut crime and improve the local economy.

“I truly believe that a strong economy boosts employment and helps to cut crime. I believe local businesses all have a part to play in helping to create a thriving community and make Suffolk a safer place in which to live, work, travel and invest. I will do all I possibly can to promote Suffolk’s economy wherever I can.”

“It is great news that our Police and Crime Commissioner has come on board to become a Suffolk Business Ambassador.” said John Dugmore, CEO of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce. “Tim is a local man with a local passion with a track record of working with and supporting the local business community. The Ambassador scheme can only become stronger and more influential with people like Tim on board and we’re delighted he will play a part.”

Cllr Colin Noble , Leader of Suffolk County Council said, “We are very pleased that Tim has accepted our invitation to become a Suffolk Business Ambassador and we look forward to working together to promote Suffolk as the Bright Choice to do Business”.
