5 April 2013 PCC publishes his blueprint for future policing Tim Passmore, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk has published his first Police and Crime Plan and Performance Framework, following several months of extensive consultation with the public and stakeholder groups across the county. The newly published plan clearly sets out the PCC’s Police and Crime objectives for policing Suffolk. It is Mr Passmore’s first opportunity, since his election, to set out his objectives and how police resources will be allocated. Launching his plan, Tim Passmore said “Over the coming years I want to really focus on making Suffolk a safer place in which to live, work, travel and invest, and my Police and Crime Plan reflects this ambition. Good policing is key to improving life for residents and visitors alike. I want to instil a strong respect for law and order and will keep the needs of the victims of crime at the heart of all that we do. “Since taking office in November I have met and listened to a wide range of the community to understand their concerns and expectations. This feedback has been vital as I have devised my Police and Crime Plan. “We received over 100 considered responses to the plan and I would like to publicly thank everyone who participated in the consultation; I will respond personally as soon as I can. I believe we all have a part to play in making Suffolk a safe, vibrant and thriving community and I am heartened by the response that I have received. He added, “Although it is the Police and Crime Commissioner’s plan, I am proud it is very much a team effort, involving the Chief Constable, all my partners and colleagues from the voluntary and community sector. It has been drafted to include the views of representatives groups from the community; it is a public document and a key mechanism for me to hold the Chief Constable to account and ensure the broader community safety objectives are delivered.” Douglas Paxton, Chief Constable said, “I am delighted to have worked with Tim on his first Police and Crime Plan for Suffolk. “The plan gives the Constabulary the clarity we need to take the PCC’s vision forward over the next four years and gives the public a clear picture of the PCC’s objectives to make the county an even safer place. I support Tim’s optimism for Suffolk and thank him for his confidence in the Constabulary to deliver this plan.” Click here to read the plan (PDF, 451KB)
