PCC and T/Chief set up web chat to answer your questions

The Police and Crime Commissioner Tim Passmore will be joining Suffolk Constabulary’s temporary Chief Constable, Gareth Wilson for a live ‘web chat’ with members of the public on Monday 20th July.

Between 6pm and 7.30pm they will be online and available to answer any questions about policing, and to discuss opinion on the changes being made to the police service as it is re-designed to achieve required savings.

Questions can be asked anonymously and on any policing area.

Mr Passmore said: “Having direct contact with members of the public is very important to me and a key part of my role as Commissioner.  A crucial part of my work is to represent the views and opinions of local communities as we deliver policing across the county and this web chat is a great way for me to gather these views.

“The police service locally and nationally is in a period of great change as forces work to deliver more for less, and I am committed to ensuring that the re-design of these services in Suffolk reflects the needs of local people and the demand we currently face.  I would encourage anyone with a question or comment to log on and get involved, tell us what you think as your opinion matters.”

Mr Wilson added: “This month’s web chat is a great way for people to talk to us about their views on our service. I am extremely proud of the policing we provide in the county and I want to ensure that the quality of this service is the best that it can be, and that we are responding to the things that matter.

“My priority at all times will be to ensure that whilst we work to deliver savings, we not only protect our communities, but we provide policing of the highest quality that our communities trust and have confidence in.

“We are working hard to re-design our teams to ensure that this happens whilst savings are identified and I need to know what the public think about this and what they see as a priority going forward.  I hope that lots of people get involved and I look forward to discussing these areas.”

The web chat precedes the ‘Chief and PCC on Tour’ events that will be held throughout the summer, in which Mr Paxton and Mr Wilson will be visiting town centres throughout Suffolk to listen to the concerns and opinions of local people. Details will be publicised soon.
