Crime Data Quality

As a result of coverage in the national media in relation to the approach of certain Forces to crime recording, the PCC asked the Chief Constable to report on processes in Suffolk with a view to reassuring the public as to their reliability and accuracy. The PCC said that he was “surprised by some of the revelations in the national press about officers seeking to suppress crime figures”. He was pleased to note the detail of the processes set out in the report (PDF,212KB) to the Accountability & Performance Panel on 5 December and hear direct from the Chief Constable as to the strong audit regime in Suffolk backed up by strong leadership.
