Chief Constable recruitment campaign launched

Following the recent decision by Simon Ash to retire in February 2013, Tim Passmore, Police & Crime Commissioner for Suffolk, is seeking to appoint a new Chief Constable. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced senior police officers for this demanding position.

Suffolk continues to be a safe county in which to live, work or visit – and is served by a Constabulary dedicated to doing the best for the public. Recorded crime is at its lowest for a decade and the person the Suffolk Police and Crime Commissioner appoints will need to embrace his vision to build on this strong base and further improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Suffolk Police.

The appointment will be offered for a fixed term of five years. The salary is £133,068 (ie spot rate) plus the allowances applicable to this level of seniority, including removal/relocation expenses.

Closing date for applications: Thursday 3 January 2013
Date for shortlisting: Thursday 10 January 2013
Date for final interviews: Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 January 2013
Confirmation Hearing by the Police & Crime Panel: Friday 8 February 2013
