Newly re-elected PCC signs Declaration of Office Posted on 3 May, 20248 May, 2024 by Sandra Suffolk’s newly re-elected Police and Crime Commissioner, Tim Passmore made his declaration of acceptance of office today (May 3 2024) directly after the PCC election result was announced. The oath signing ceremony, at West Suffolk House, Bury St Edmunds, was presided over by the Police Area Returning Officer Ian Gallin, Chief Executive of West Suffolk Council. Tim said, “I am truly honoured to be elected as Suffolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner. “It’s a real privilege to serve our county in this role. There is a great deal to do in the next few months – the main piece of work is writing the new Suffolk Police and Crime Plan which should be ready for consultation and then publication by the end of this year. “The basis for the plan is the manifesto, which has a range of commitments for supporting young people, preventing fraud and dealing with illegal drugs and gangs to name but a few. “Ultimately it is about us all working together regardless of how people cast their vote. As Churchill said ‘Let us go forward together’ – exactly so!” The declaration made by the PCC reads: I Timothy Henry Weeks Passmore of Thwaite in Suffolk do hereby declare that I accept the office of Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk. In making this declaration, I solemnly and sincerely promise that during my term of office: I will serve all the people of Suffolk in the office of Police and Crime Commissioner. I will act with integrity and diligence in my role and, to the best of my ability, will execute the duties of my office to ensure that the police are able to cut crime and protect the public. I will give a voice to the public, especially victims of crime, and work with other services to ensure the safety of the community and effective criminal justice. I will take all steps within my power to ensure transparency of my decisions, so that I may be properly held to account by the public. I will not interfere with the operational independence of police officers.
